I recently aquired an 85 pickup and noticed it didn't have a smog/air pump on it. Is it supposed to have one or is all the smog junk just run by vacuum? I looked around and all the hoses are hooked up and I didn't find any place where anything was blocked off. Just seemed kind of wierd not to have one.

It may not require one. A friends 84 p/u doesn't have one, but my 84 4Runner (CA model) does.

Mine is a California model and it doesn't have one. Will it pass smog? It doesn't look like there was ever one on it but it had been passing smog in cali before I bought it. I don't know if it was taken off or what. Is your friends p/u a cali model?

No it's not. I'm not sure, but p/u's may have less stringent requirements than a passenger vehicle (4Runner) and not need an air pump to meet mid-80's specs.
