Hey Guys____ I understand that the Toyota solid front axels weak point is the Birfied –type CV joint. I also heard that there are custom builders making a conversion, a Dana 60/knuckles which the Toyota’s smaller front axels would be a perfect candidate. Has anyone tried the conversion, and what’s the dope on it .____ THANKS BAYRUNNER

At this point there exist aftermarket birfields which are stronger then the inner axle. These birfields are cyro treated with a couple other things done to them. They are a lot cheaper then bying or building a hybrid axle. I think the hybrid toy/60 is neat, but for me it is a waste of money. Sure your outers will be near indestrutable, but then your weak point will be your axles or ring gear. For around the same money or less you could buy a 60 and get in shortened or shorten it yourself if you have the ability. I would try some longfields, they are stronger then the inner axle and lots of people are running 37's on them with little breakage. If you plan to go bigger or manage to break those then just go with a 60. Just my opinion. www.longfieldsuperaxles.com/

Hey Sean_____ Thanks for the reply. At this point, my funds are not up to either the 44/60 Hybrid conversion, and as far as my style of riding, I don’t think that Longs.(Old style, if still available) and Pro Chromos would not be to much of a compromise. I just wondered if any of the guys went with either44/60 Hybrids setup, and how they worked out for them, Pros and Cons. Anyway. _____ THANKS BAYRUNNER
