Hey, I got a price quote from a four wheel drive shop here to intall front and rear 5.29 gears, they said $1200-$1300 out the door (price of gears included). Is that way too high? Also, would it be possible to do it myself with the help of an experienced mechanic? Thanks

I guess it depends on what is involved. If it is 1200-1300 to drive your truck in and have everything down, it seems about right.
If you pull the third and front diff yourself and bring it in it should lower that price substationally. I was quoted a 100 labour each third if I bought gears through the mechanic and 150 each if I supplied my own.
I would have a pro set it up, or find some one to show you how too that has the proper tools. A lot of money that can get destroyed pretty easily with a bad set up job.
