Hey Guys_____ Just checking BEFORE I go on a shopping spree (in bone yard). This is my understanding the 85—88 22RE are top shift t-cases (gear driven) also the 83s The 84—88 R shifters are mounted on the tail housing of Trans (forward shifters) Now the 85 –has a W-56 5sp. Trans The 84 carb. Has a G-52 Trans (5sp) So am I misstating any stats? If I’m missing any years with the W-56 or G-52 Trans or any years with the top shift (gear driven) t-case. PLEASE fill me in, this is for a duel t-case setup, Iwant to use 2 top shift (gear driven) t-cases.(at least 0ne 228) … Also for the second part of my upgrade I want to go to 456 gears, with 31s for various reasons. And I understand that there are years of V6s with stock 456 rears that come with stock 31s??? So I’m interested in the years so I can look for them (in bone yards)And am I correct in assuming that 2 rear axels off of V6 Yotas ,one in rear and one in front would do the trick. And how difficult of a mod would that be??? And am I correct in assuming that a rear put in the front would weaken the strength of axel, due to the gears being reversed??? Any othe options are welcomed.Sorry my rig is an 85 runner ___ Anyway ____ THANKS BAYRUNNER

W56 - 85-95 4.56 also on 4 cyl/31's As for the strength of a "rear" 3rd in the front, with 31' tires it's a not even close to being an issue.

I got my 4.56 V6 third for my frontend out of a 90 4x4pickup from the wrecker.

Hey Guys ____ I”ve been researching this duel setup thing and I came across some threads, don’t know how to link or reference threads from other parts of this or other forums, but I’m trying to figure that out, anyway some guys from (down under)are saying that there having problems breaking shafts with (toy t-cases duel setups they seem not to be holding up) I mean A LOT of problems, just wondering if any of you guys are experiencing similar problems????Anyway ______ THANKS BAYRUNNER

Not that it's impossible, it's just extremely unlikely. Now if you were running 38" tires you would definetely expect to break some birfields.
