If i were to put a 4 inch suspension lift on an 83 toyota truck would i have to do any work to the driveshaft?

Depends on the suspension. If it's nice and flexy, probably yes. If it's not, probably no. YMMV

Would i need a new driveshaft on a 85 with 3inch downey springs and 1inch shackles? i didnt. but i had an 89. basically the same though. getting a driveshaft extended is cheap though. its only like 60-80$

After my driveline out of my 85 was stolen I got a one peice off an 86-88 and now I don't have to worry about that crappy bearing giving out all the time It's worth looking into
