Hey all. I'm trying get the 22RE running right in my 85 runner. I get error codes for the TPS and knock sensor. While I could find the specs for the impendance and voltages, I couldn't seem to be able to find anything that said which pins to test on. The plug on the TPS is a vertically stacked four pin design.
Next question. Should I be pulling any resitance across the wires that hook into the TPS when the truck is turned off?
Lastly, where in the h*** is the knock sensor located. I just can't seem to spot it.
That's all for now. I'm sure there will be more questions to come.

I don't know anything about the resistance you should have, but the TPS code usually means that the TPS just needs to be adjusted. Just set your idle, and play with the position of the sensor until the code goes away. The Knock sensor is on the right hand side of the engine block. As you are standing in front of the truck, use your left hand and reach down to the side of the block. You should feel it there. It is just a hex head with two wires coming out of it. It is located about 6" in front of the starter. Remove it and clean it up. If there is corrosion on the end of it, you can use a file, or a wire brush to clean it. When you re-install it make sure that it is TIGHT! If it is the least bit loose, it will not function properly. Good luck

Thanks Daniel.
After adjusting the tps for idle, blammo, no error code. Then while tracking down the knock sensor, what do I find but the sensor is unplugged. Plug it in and BAM, the motor is getting happy. Thanks for the tips. Problems are solved. I've put on 100 km and no more check engine light.
