my parts truck has a flat bed that i'm gonna put on my 80 toy which would be better bolt it to the body lift/mounts or weld it to the frame

Bolt it. I'm not even sure that welding it would be legal. I know it wouldn't be where I am.

I bolted my flat bed to the frame with 8 1/2" bolts. It seems to be holding really good. Mines an 82 and on those old trucks its good to be able to take the bed off easily cause your prolly gonna have to fix the frame sometime. On our 1980 4x4 yota we were plowing one day and the front of the box was against the back of the cab cause the frame broke. On my 82 you could stick your hands through the holes in the frame.

the 82 parts truck is about in the same shape it has already been welded on but they didnt go far enough and the cab is sitting on the frame with the fred flinstone floor boards . i figure i'll keep the engine ,doors,fenders and hood sincew that was what i wanted it for anyhow and sell the axles and tranny/xfer case since i already have spares
