Hey Guys _____ Which 80 series high pinion rear axels (years) would work for the rear (and possibly the front also) of an 84 toy, 5sp 22r, with (7in sus.lift, 2in body lift and duels) ? I am currently running 35s and want to continue to run them; my gearing is 529, with fr/rr loc rights. I am contemplating using (high pinion 80 series LC axels) to eliminate the excessive angle from rear axel to t-case, or at least I’m in the research stage anyway. Also do I have to worry about the widths of the 80series axels, would that pose a problem?? And what gearing and lockers would be available, I’m running stock 84axel in front and V6 in back, is the time, money ,and effort worth it. ______ THANKS BAYRUNNER

LC HP axles are front only. All you want is the 3rd, not the whole axle. The front uses reverse-cut gears, so it won't work in the rear housing either.
If the "excessive angle" of the rear DS doesn't cause vibes, don't worry about it. If it does cause vibrations there are 2 choices -
1) shims so the t-case and diff u-joints are parallel to each other (most likely they're not), different length shackles can also help with this.
2) put a double-cardan joint on the t-case end of the DS and rotate the rear axle so the pinion is pointing up at the t-case. This requires cutting-off the spring perches and rewelding them.

Actually you can bolt a hi pinion into the rear axle. But it will be a weak set up because the reverse cut gears will have it running on the coast side all the time.

Correct, I didn't make it clear.
