driving 4600 mile back to alabama from alaska i developed a very loud whine from the rear . im thinking pinion bearing ? yesterday rotated tires . now i think with an open diff wehn you rotate one tire the other turns opposite direction , well mine didnt . i could turn either wheel with no feed back from the other but a nice clunking noise . so now im thinking broke axle ? if so how have i been able to drive 6000 miles like this ? anyone expierenced any thing like this ? got two jobs so cant tear it down , so is only option whole new assembly? grateful for any input
