over the last month or so, i've had this squealing/rattling noise coming from somewhere behind the engine, that's been progressively getting worse and now sounds like something's about to fall off the truck, and i've got a real bad vibration below about 20 mph. hoping it's just a u-joint on the driveshaft or something simple, but i thought i'd see what anybody thought, or if someone's had a similar problem... thanks!

oh, and btw, i'm almost positive it's something in the drivetrain (not suspension, body mounts, etc.)

so i just pulled the rear driveshaft and the rear u-joint is all seized up, but i was wondering if there's any trick to getting it to come apart, or just get a punch on it and get the caps to come off... oh, also, am i gonna have any problems from doing a limited amount of driving in front wheel drive while i've got the rear DL out? i wouldn't think it'd hurt it, but i thought i'd check...

I drove around for like a month with only front wheels after my drive line was stolen while I was working. but it still works like new so yeah you should be fine.

cool, well, i got the rear DL back in, new u-joint, and a new couple coats of semi-gloss black paint, for good measure nice and smooth now, thanks for the help guys! oh, hey, toyotamike, would you happen to own the white straight-axle truck with the black driver's side front fender that was parked in an apartment complex in auburn a week ago saturday?
