In my truck (83) it has a AC pump that is no longer functional. but the previous owner left it on there for the belts. is there somthing i could replace it with like a dual alternater. or better yet could i use this area to run power steering? i dont have PS and i was comparing boxes on a PS equiped 85 and mine is the same but with caps where the hoses go. is this something. or is it just how they did it and i need a new one?
i really need to take pictures of everything, pics make the fourm more intersting!

The PS pump bolts to the engine in a different place than the AC comp.
To add PS you need a new steering gear box in addition to the pump, resevoir, hoses, etc.
If the AC comp works you could always use it for on board air.

I also have no AC but I do have the compressor. I would love to turn it into an onboard air source. Are there any writeups on it?

Yes, just You need an air filter and oiler for the intake side, a separator /filter on the output side, a pressure switch to turn the comp on/off depending on tank pressure, and of course a regulator and gauge.
