I found a doner 5 speed from an 88 4 runner to replace the 4 speed thats in my 82 pickup what exactly is involved in doing the swap? will my old t-case bolt up to the newer 5 speed? Im aware that I will need to relocate my tranny mount to compensate for the longer tranny, but will my stock driveshafts still work? if not would I be able to use the 4 runner shafts? I hope there is somebody out there with expertise in this area because Im pretty much going in blind

the ones off the 4 runner should work. keep your rear driveline incase you lift your truck and will need a longer one anyways.

The bolt pattern on the t-case end of the 88's drive shaft is different then the 82's. You can redrill the t-case flange to match or get the "universal" flange from Marlin.

I actually like my 5th gear.... Even with my 33's I can use it on anything but uphill. And it does help.... Blew up 5th in my old tranny, and my gas mileage droped using 4th until I could swap in my spare. actually loosing all but 4th made me replace it but ;D
