the other day i was greasing every thing i went to grease the hubs, i packed to much in one and it was causing delayed release time for the enguaging sprocket thing in there, and i had some liquid courage in the system so i thought i would lift the truck up and put in in gear to play with the 4lo and stuff, ya know that bonding time with you and your truck.. anyways, and k notices some sounds... it was the first time i put my ear to a spinning differential! so it could be nothing but>>> the Question: how can or can i do a check up on my axle, like a test or something to listen for or like hold one tire and see how much play is in the other or something!! something to put in the trick book!!!!!!!!!!!

I think what your trying to ask is how can I figure out if my ring and pinion gears are o.k.? If so... Honestly, there are too many different issues you could run into. If you think something specific is up, give us some more details. I just did a gear change in mine, I noticed a vibration that increased with speed but only when I was going really fast. This is a sign that the driveshaft is not balanced or the ujoint angles are not equal, nothing really wrong with the diff though. Chances are really good that nothing is up since it is stock, change the fluid and look for excessive metal shards on the magnet, but expect some due to wear.
