so im getting an 85 pickup regular cab 22re and the cross member that has the carrier bearing that holds up the middle of the two piece rear drive shaft is all rusted (as usual) so i was thinking of cutting it out and welding my own and going with a one piece drive shaft. is there any reason why i should just fix the stock cross member and stay with the two piece drive shaft? just curious. it has about a 2" supsension lift thanx

You need to get one from an 84' to 88'. The earlyer trucks have differend bolt patterns on the drive shaft flanges. Or you could just drill them to match. Depends on how lazy you are.

Short bed-reg cab or 4Runner Like stated abve , the pre-84's have a diff bolt pattern, so you can drill your case and pinion flanges or replace them with the multi-pattern flanges from Marlin. Or, you could get your 2 piece shaft retubed into a 1 piece at a local shop.

My truck is a 86' x-tra cab and it has a one pc. shaft. My 84' long bed std. cab has a 2 pc. shaft. Just go to the junk yard and start crawling around.

My one piece is about 55in. My truck is lifted with a stock shaft, So yours will measure a little shorter. Measure your 2 pc. and compare.
