I cant stand door buzzers. I dont need a buzzer to tell me when my keys are in the ignition or when my door is open. On my 86 ther was a little white box by the fuse box that had 2 wires running to it. I just cut it out but on my 84 the buzzer is in a black box under the dash. Its tied into the interior light so I couldnt just cut the wires. So I pryed the back of the box out and hooked it back up and found out there is a coil looking think with wires rapped around it. There are two tabs that touch and thats what makes the buzzer go off. I just bent the one tab back and put it back together, NO more buzzer and my interior light still works.

The 2 wires from the ign sw that trigger the buzzer have their own connector at the base of the steering column under the dash. Just disconnect that 2 wire connector (on 1st & 2nd gen at least).

i tried looking for the buzzer on saturday but it appeared to me that you have to take the entire dash off to get to it. i couldn't even see it, is it in the black or white box behind the stereo? i want to be sure before i tear the dash all the way off. also, fourwd1 i'll try what you said. i was about to say something like that would only cut it off if you had the key in but then i remembered it only does it if the key is in. Der.

On my truck the black box was by the steering column. Between the firewall and the heater duct.

cool i'll look for that. i didn't see "buzzer" but i guess i'll know to look now. so do you have to take the entire dash to get it off or is there a way to not have to do that should i not be able to find the connector that fourwd1 spoke of.

You dont have to take anything apart. Lay on your back and look up under the dash and put your key in the ignition to help find the sound. Locate the heater ducting under the steering column, it should be on the other side of that towards the firewall. I think hte markings "Buzzer" is on the top side so you wont be able to see it. You have to slide the box to the side to get it to come of the mount. Its a flat piece of metal.

awsome. i'll look at it today. i need to mess with a lawn mower and adjust my carb today. it idles like crap and eventually dies unless you give it a tiny bit of throttle so i'm going to turn the idle speed counter clockwise? anything else i'm missing?
