well maybe the front. but if he puts it on its side, the bed will be crushed. well all i know is, we are all going in together on a bender and notcher and are going to re do the bed, and do my truck all the way around. i just wanted some feed back on whether we should take the time to re do his.

Doesnt look to bad . If he only would have followed the wheel wells and did a better job on the bed sides. How much did he charge him?

I would have to agree with it sucking. The front has promise, I would agree that a stinger would have been better. But as you follow the lines back, the style of the thing completely changes and offers less protection. It is however much, much better than mine which has nothing. Get the bender and notcher and go into business, that what I want to do eventually!

They are time consuming to build, but he could of done a better job. In the middle of mine right now, I am using 1 1/4'' and 1'' and maybe sone 3/4'' pipe. Once you get familiar with the tube bender you can build anything. I will post pics of mine when done. It wouldnt be that hard to put a stinger on that truck. Just cut out the slanted pipes on the front end and go out with the stinger and then go fron the stinger back down to the front bumper. My stinger sticks out about 8'' above my hood

yeah, it only gets better. the guy was suppose to weld the back of the cage to the bed, not the rear bumper. it seems that the rear bumper was already sold and he was suppose to take it off to make room for a bob. what an idiot. so we are cutting the rear of it off today. we are just going to go to Farmington without the back protected. and as for the frontend, he is going to leave it. he can live with it. so maybe we will go ahead and put the stinger up there, and maybe not. only time will tell. but yeah post some pics up of your cage when it is done.
thanks for the replies!

I see much room for improvement. It's a decent base cage to start with, remember you can always add to it!

oh yeah its definately a good base. and we could add to it, but our entire issue with it is that it doesnt follow the fender lines; and its welded to the rear bumper. both key issues.

front looks good enough cosmetically, and the back leaves some room for improvement.lol.
hmm... if you take off the bottom half of the rear cageoff and re-do.. a third beam might look good at the same height as the front lower beam... would make it match, and give a little more protection for the middle of the panel too... and maybe an angled brace like on the front fender... symmetry is always a safe bet for appearances.
with a bright base coat on the body to make the cage stand out... but could definetly be a PITA to paint under some of the cage
oh well, just my mind thinkin aloud again, good luck with the re-do im sure it'll look good in the end.. always better to do it yourself.. more gratifying

Did he weld the pipes on the backside around the fenders?? Doesnt look like there is much room. I know it was a pain in the ass on mine. It was somthing that I had to keep in mind when making my bends and figuring out where to place the tubes.

no, they were only welded half way around the tubing.

I would be sealing them up with some silicone or somthing. But you live down south. Up here the pipes would get filled up with water and freeze. I welded mine all the way around, it was a PITA. The only one I couldnt get all the way around was the one thats above of the cab in the middle that runs front to back. Is it pretty sturdy? WHen you hit the cage with the palm of your hand does it vibrate at all. I just got mine done, now I have to paint it.

no, since we fixed it, it doesnt vibrate at all.

I roughly figured out how much weight I added to my truck with the exo. Its close to 200 lbs. I didnt think it would be that much.
