So yesterday, i was driving in town and i noticed this weird noise that sounded like something was flapping against my tire. so when me and my sister got to wally world, i got out and checked it out. i couldn't find a single thing that was even close to the tire. so we went into walmart and got our stuff and came out and left. it was still making the sound so i stopped in a parking lot and took an even closer look to the axle and the surrounding areas. i still couldn't find anything wrong so i drove home some of the way going very slow. when i got on the highway the sound went away so i went about 60. then when i was turning on to a street, my wheel came off! i heard a pop and instantly i was like well crap, before i had time to do anything, my back end was on the ground, scraping the pavement. so i pulled off the road and got my tire that gone down the highway, thankfully not hitting any cars, being the middle of coming home from work hour. I started to jack up my truck and put the tire back on and someone with a Hi-Jack helped me get it up and we put the wheel back on with some lug nuts that my dad brought. so yeah, i'm convinced that it was some stupid kids or kid that loosened them because i tighten those things down till they won't tighten anymore so they definetely shouldn't have come loose. really pisses me off that someone would do something so dangerous to someone elses property. i mean me and my sister could have died or killed someone else! But the good part is that it's a toyota and i checked all the brakes and wheel and axle and pretty much everything in the general area and there is absolutely nothing damaged except for my fender which was bent around by the tire. i'm pretty sure that if it were a different, not as well made truck it would have screwed something up cause i slid on the ground for a good 15-25 Ft on my drum. and it stayed on for about 8-10 miles without falling off. well anyways that's my exciting story of the week so i'll get off my soapbox now.

glad to hear your ok.. but on a lighter note, in reply to 86taco.. i have done that, it was awesome!! ha ha, i have learned to be a little more responsible since then, but it was still a feeling of satisfaction... it was one of those real ass clowns that deserved it.. trust me, and i couldn't get in trouble on any level so i couldn't publicly do anything, even though i tried confronting him once.. and he pressed a final button, so i kinda parked on his hood for a minute or two in my 82 yota... good times in that machine i did have.. now i think back and realize how incredibly stupid it actually was, but you live and you learn

^^ Yup!
okay so i have established that this is not my week. two days ago i was on my home to take a shower before my youth group met for wednesday, i was on a really narrow road with a huge ditch right on the side. i looked down at my ipod or something and when i looked up, i was on the grass and i blinked and i was in the ditch. the ditch was about 3-4 deep with really steep sides by like 5-7 feet wide. i hit it going about 30 or 35 and once i got out i found that the only things damaged were the front plastic things on the bumper got riped off, the sides of the bumper had gotten bent a little, the passenger side mirror got damaged so i took it off, and my alignment is off (i hope that's all it is). so yeah i freaking LOVE my truck. if any other newer truck had gone in that ditch at the speed i was, i can almost garantee that it would have had a lot more damage. and a car would have been totalled most likely, once they got it out. this lady who saw me go in drove up and was freaking out, she was all like OMG! are you all right, do you need to call a tow truck or anything? i told her yes i was fine and no i don't need a tow truck. i could have gotten out on my own if i had gotten at the right angle but in the interest of time i just had someone i knew pull me out and i drove home.

the funny thing is that i don't really need any buffing. all i need now after i got it realligned is to go the junk yard and get a new front bumper. also i could use some new springs. the passenger side is kind of sagging now.

LOL I had my truck driven into a ditch just last week, only we were going up this semi-steep hillclimb, we got to the top and WHAM!-ditch out of f-ing nowhere. It was a pretty decent sized ditch, the rear tires were sticking up in the air. After we got it out I found that my hood, fenders and bumper were mangled, and my front alignment was off a bit...rest of the truck is still perfectly fine

I had a tire fall off of a 91 crewcab. I got out and thought i broke something. nothing was broke just tire came off so i walked back up the street and found 6 of the 8 lug nuts put the tire back on and drove down the road about a mile got out to check them and they were all lose. so I retightened them and went on my way about two miles down the highway i heard a tink like a rock hit the truck so i stopped again to find there was only one lug nut left. So I stole afew off the other wheels to get home bought new ones never had any more trouble. I was told that it was possible that the threads in the old ones might have been streched so much they were on the virg of striping out. But will never no. Good to here no one got hurt in your episode

One of my buddies had this happen on his j**p. They were putting new brake pads on and the guy helping him forgot to tighten the lug nuts down. It was his fault though (IMO you should always check someone elses work on your rig) His tire popped off shredded on the rim and destroyed the wheel, caliper, etc. Cost him $700.00 to fix it.
