i am putting new gears in the rear end of my 85. i have the axle out but i cant get the housing plate off. i pried like hell but its stuck. any help would be greatly appreciated.  |

Housing plate? WTF? Toyota axles use drop out center sections. Im lost here.

Look on the front of the differential case. It unbolts like a ford 9 inch rear end does. The whole gear assembly comes out in one piece. You can't get that plate off unless you wanted to cut it off with a torch. Its not supposed to move.

just another thing it wont come off until you pull both axle shafts out as well!!
