I bought an 83 toyota with an 86 22re already installed. I rebuilt the motor and added t3 turbo. I have the turbo computer and mass air flow sensor both stock toyota turbo parts. The problem I am having is when the turbo spools up and then boosts the engine shutters bad, it seems like the motor is receiving to much boost and either dumping it or just not accepting it. Once the boost pressure goes back down the power comes back and the turbo spools back up again and the whole thing starts over again. The engine stays running during all this I just lose power in the peddle. It doesn't seem to matter whether I keep pushed into the peddle or let off when the acts up. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

Too much boost for stock compression on a 22RE. Did you change the pistons to turbo pisons or left them stock?

The pistons are Turbo pistons and the compression is 7:1. I will get a boost gauge to see what its boosting.
