Hey fellas and gals, Looking for help for my 85', I have 8" skyjacker lift, 37x14.50s, lockers f/r, birfield front. Problem is this thing drives down the road like a turd. Took it to my local shop for steering stablization and they gave me the deer in the headlights look. Any suggestions?

Crossover steering setup from Trail Gear or All Pro or Marlin. That alone will help tremendously. They also sell steering stabilizers separately. It is beyond easy to put one on however you will have to weld one bracket onto the frame. I am not sure but I think at least one of those sites sells a dual setup as well.

Cross-over steering will definetly be a big improvement if you don't have it already. But with 8" of suspension lift, if caster was not addressed, that's more than likely why it 'drives like a turd', and a steering stabilizer is not the answer.

Address the steering like mentioned above.
Steering stabilizers only mask problems. If your truck is not driving properly, a stabilizer is NOT a fix. You will still have the same problems and the stabilizer may or may not cover up the exsisting problems.

i have a 6in lift with that drop draglink and mine also drives like a turd. wanders bad and bump stear is really bad. i hit the brakes and it goes left and i hit the gas it goes right and the fun begins when i hit a pot hole . a cross over is going to happen real soon. im getting mine from 4x4labs. looks like a better setup to me and LOL i have a stabaliser!

And I bet you didn't lengthen and re-install the torque rod when you put the lift on. That's why your steering is so quirky. The wander is probably due to a bad caster angle created by the suspension lift. Did it come with some degree shims to correct it?

I have a 6'' lift on my 85 runner. when I installed the lift (with 3 degree shim) I also installed A torque rod bracket from northwestoffroad. The runner drives like a dream even without steering stabilizer. the torque rod is a must on trucks with s-link steering. without proper t-rod setup you will be all over the road. just my $.02!!! later!
