What is the best way to get the motor connected to the tranny? I had a horrible time getting it off of the shaft and I can't get it to go on at all. Any help appreciated.

Are you puttin a motor in or a tranny in?
If you are puttin a motor back in, you want to have your motor at a slight rear downward angle along with the tailshaft of the trans dropped down. Its a pain in the butt. Its one of those things, when you hit the sweet spot it will slide right in before you know it. Just make sure once you got it in not to let it fall out.
If you are putting a tranny back in to an existing engine, you want to lower the rear of the engine downward to make room for the bell housing. I am a bigger guy so its no problem for me to put the trans and t-case on my chest and lift it up in there. But some ppl might not be able to so a trans jack would help a lot, if thats not accessable just use a rolling floor jack and an extra set of hands to guide and steady the trans back into place.
One other thing, you will more then likely have to rotate the trans shaft or crank shaft to line the splines up. If you have a straight edge you can line one of the lands on the splines up with the center of a bell housing bolt on the trans and the same with the same bolt hole on the engine. Sometimes this gets you pretty close.
Be carefully not to bend or alter the dust shield on the back of the engine. If you do you will hear it come in contact with the flex plate/fly wheel once installed and running. Theres really nothing you can do about that except dismantle readjust and reinstall or just leave it alone. It will be a loud ticking that wil eventually go away if left alone.

I got it on there finally. I set it down on the motor mounts (As far as it could go on) Then I removed the hoist and climbed inside of the engine bay, I picked up the motor and kind of twisted it back and forth until it just popped in. All I had to do after that was push it together and bolt the tranny up.
