;D FWD1, do you have the ARB compr. kit or other? I've heard they're not too reliable. Later...

For 2 ARBs, compressor, hose kit, bearing kits, etc and labor it was $2100 at a reputable drivetrain shop. That was carry-in (me remove the 3rds and take them in), it would have been a lot more in labor if I had them R+R them too.

Weld (cheapest) or spool the rear, Detroit in front.
To save some more $$ there are cheaper decent lockers you can stick up front, but a full Detroit would be the toughest.

well i dont wanna weld cause this is a daily driver, i was looking at the Aussie Locker Lockig Differential, i have seen them in four wheeler mag. for under $200, and ive seen them on TRUCKS tv show on the purple bronco they just made, wondering if it really works for the price

The aussie locker works basically the same as a detroit locker, it is just much cheaper because it uses parts which fit into the existing carrier instead of replacing the carrier with a new one like a detroit. Personally I would but one of these over a detroit anyday. Detroit's were not made to handle bigger then 35" tires and if an axle breaks the backlash usually takes the detroit with it. It might happen with a aussie as well, but the detroit is over twice the price. Ultimately the strongest proven lockers and the best buy if you are already spending detroit kind of money are the ARB's and factory E-lockers. If you can't afford or just don't feel that they are worth the money go for the aussie or lockrite.

I know alot of people that routinely run them with 38"+ tires with no problems.

It's not the tire size, it's the fact that when say a birf goes the recoil will take out the detroit. There was a post once on pirate that explained the difference in materials used on the ARB and Detroits and the ARB are made of much better material. Yes I know the Aussie is basically a lock rite clone.

:(i know that the aussie lockers are relatively new to the market and maybe not so AMERICAN for those die hard wheelers.... is that why they may be a bit cheaper... their site was easy to understand and simple.. someone who is tech challenged like me likes that!! feedback??

I am running an ARB in the rear. The locker itself is great. The ARB compressor is garbage, get a different brand.
I also didnt like the pluming that comes with the ARB and used my own setup.
I also run the ARB air line INSIDE a 3/8 PVC tube from the compressor to the rear axle to protect the line.
ARB's customer service is great. I needed a new switch cover and the guys sent me 2 entire new switches for free.

I will be running a 37 in two weeks and i need to get the ball rolling with my gears and lockers. Also any good ideas on a ratio. I was planning on a 4.88. let me know . thx

yeah the ARB compressor is 100% garbage ....
I am installing nerf bars with air storage and an extra 5 gallon tank ... I will be patching up the compressor and should be fine
There are lots of small compressors offered in 4x4 magazines .. get one of those .. you get what you pay..
Just stay away from ARB comrpessors

why do say that they're garbage I have never had a problem with one? and as far as using nerf bars for air tanks why would you want bombs on the side of your rig especially one that sits that close to you just curious

at tops there would be what 90 psi in the nerfs. if there was a hole in there it would just rush out. think a tire and it getting a hole. of u havea compressor just let teh compressor fill the sliders up then use what ever u need and when done let the air out.
