I am looking into buying a Toyato pickup(1991-92 most likely) and was wondering about putting 33x12.50s on it. What i want to know is what gears to run with this tire. Keep in mind i will be driving this on the road everyday so mileage is a cocern. What would be the best gearing to keep rpms as close to original? Would putting those tires on with stock gearing be that bad? I plan on adding some hp to the engine also. I have friends with a Ranger with 33x12.50 and 4.10 gears with a 3.0 4 cyl and it does good. Do any of yall have the 4cyl/5sp setup with thes tires? How does it perform? Let me know as im new to this.

Toyotas with 4 cyl/5 spd are usually 4.10 geared. Plenty of people run 33's with this setup, but there is a loss of power. Most people deal with it, don't use 5th as much. The best ratio for 33's is 4.88 if you want to regear.

Could i make it up with say header,exhaust,intake, and other little bolt ons like that?

im running 33x 12.50's, but in an auto what gears would good to run. or should i run the same gears as a 5 speed

Autos, especially with a 4 cyl, usually come geared a little lower than a manual (4.30 instead of 4.10).
So instead of 4.88 you'd probably want 5.29s, the next lower available ratio for Toys.
There are plenty of charts around that can tell you what gear you need when going from a specific tire size and gearing to a new tire size.

If you're considering regearing and there's a possibility of a locker in the future, you may want to wait until you can afford to do both at once. You will save a lot of $ in labor that way.

yeah im getting ARB airlocker soon so ill wait till i get the lockers and gears done all at once. thatks for the info
