who has the "Aussie locker" it sounds really appealing, mainly b/c of the cost, but im debating on the lockers im gonna get for my 85.... i was thinking maybe aussie locker in the front and powertrax in the rear, i dont have the $$ for ARB or Electrac....

I don't really think there is much to choose between the aussie and the powertrax. I would go with one or the other for simplicity. Aussie's are supposed to be a bit more quiet.

I know I'm thinking about it!!! Also adding a twin stick transfer case shifter. With the 4 wheelparts deal and the $150 twin stick, it's way cheaper than ARB's and I'd still be able to steer a little.

I have an aussie locker put it in in november. I love it. I like the click click when I turn corners it makes poeple look. Now i dont hear it over the TSL's. It took like 2 1/2 months to get it they had shipping problems I was getting anxious. I can crawl up on some pretty steep hills in 2 wheel drive and when I lock in the hubs its even better. It was really easy to install and I have had no problems yet. I think you can get a lockrite for about hte same price. But that is up to you. later

the teeth rotaing around on themselves as the locker open to allow the inside tire to spin fast during the corner. but i have really only heard my locker click once or twice sincei have a loud exhaust on v6

my update on my aussie locker so for. well now i am a lockright man, as it turns out my aussie locker was never unlocking. for the past 3-4 months before i just swapped housing my aussie never unlocked. which explained the no clicks around corners, having to fight my truck everytime i turn the wheel and the increased tire wear. but i am not sure what caused it, as my pins finally gave out, but i think the spare 2pinion carrier that i used was warped or crooked, so it never allowed it to unlock

Thats weird man. my aussie has performed flawlessly. wouldnt give it up for anything. Are you sure you set the backlash correctly. If you jack up the rear end you shouldof been able to turn one tire and hear it click.

With the rear end jacked up and an automatic locker installed, I believe both tires should not spin when you turn one of them. You should hear the ratcheting sound...

Some questions on these lockers. Usable on a daily driver, Weekend wheeler, on both front and Back diffs?(89pickup, presently importing Helix Surf) Or should a not so serious wheeler save his bucks for other goodys and just put one on the front? As far as lockers of this style go Aussie lockers sound as good as any other? what do you guys think? On this Helix Surf(4runner) front end it has auto locking hubs, Would my diff be turning all the time on this model unlike my pickup with manual freewheeling hubs? And would instaling lockers be within the realm of a guy who has had his rear end apart to change all the seels and wheel bearings? Thanks
