Ok im putting 38" Sx's on my 85 runner, i found the 4 Wheel Parts deal with 2 ring and pinions, 2 install kits, and 2 Genuine Gear Quick locks for $895.... would 5.29's be the right gear ratio, i know it might not be low enough but i really dont want to go to 5.71's. also i have heard a few good things about quick locks, no bad, but i havent heard enough to know for sure... any input on them? the deal goes away after march so i need to make up my mind soon!  |

nice i have a 36, and 5.29's, you should be ok on the highway with a 38,as for the deal you got it's defintly a deal, real nice, your rig is gonna be great man go for it, but don't get the 5.71 they say that the pinion grea is so small the it's not reccomended for off-roading, becasue it's not as strong.

If you're going to take the truck offroad you really don't have a choice other than 5.29s, 5.71s will not last offroad, they are too weak.

definately it will go offroad, this is mainly an offroader, but i might drive it some yknow for dates lol or just wanting to drive it with the top and doors off instead of driving the taco. any one know anything about Quick locks?

;D my gears/lockers/install kits came in today! im pumped, now i just have to get someone to help install them! i cant wait, all parts look like very good craftsmanship and the quick lock looks really simple and pretty much foolproof... anyways ill give yall a good write up after ive installed them.
