Alright I have tried to read other threads and I cant really find definate oppinions on what I should get. My truck is an 88 V6 5 speed. Its my daily driverand I use it for that much mroe than off roading. Im looking to get a rear and possibly front lockers for it. I cant afford ARBs or e-lockers. Is there anything I can get that wont effect my on road driving or atleast not very much that will give me better off road capabilities?
I know ARB and electric are expensive, is there a locker I can activate manually by getting under there and cranking something or something like that that is on/off but cheaper?

oh and another question is that a lot of people have been telling me to get 5.29 gears for my 35s. I was thinking is that a little too much power? I dont plan on ever going larger than 35s. Maybe 4.88 gears. I think i might try to have new gears added at the same time as my differential lock of I can afford it. Probobly cheaper to do both.

Doing both gears and lockers at the same time is defenitely the way to do it. You will save a whole lot of $$ in labor.
A lot of people run the 4.88/35" combo, especially if the truck sees a lot of highway use. The 5.29 ratio is probably more popular though as it provides a little lower gearing for offroad use.
The choice is up to you.

To answer your question about lockers....
If you don't want to notice the locker is in the truck while on the road, then the more expensive ARB or e-locker is the way to go.
However if you can't afford the price, then you will want to go with a auto-locker that engages when your on the gas and disengages when your off the gas. You will notice a difference on the road depending on how you drive.
There is a cable actuated locker on the market but it is not made for the toyota differential yet. It is also more expensive than auto-lockers.

ive just got one stupid question... sorry!!! but if your miles are mostly highway? why even run 35's.... thier a hell of a lot more $$$$ and they kill your gearing... maybe im just too cheap and ignorant but wouldnt a 33 with a selectable..? or even aussie locked rear save $$$$ but also still keep your yota somewhat manageable on the highway???
