i have an 88 pickup 32 in swampers 3 in body 4 inch rear suspension lift. cranked the torsion bars and i am worried about no suspension flex means one wheel is comeing off the ground alot. i got the truck for free so i dont want to spend alot of money on it i am going to weld the rear diff is it possible to weld the front or would i be better leaving it open. i wheel on alot of tight trails i have to use reverse alot as it is. would locked front and rear make a huge difference?

;D Locking the rear makes sense. "Lincoln locking" the front makes no sense unless it's a trail-only rig. The turning radius would be a joke! Unless you use 2WD. ;D Later...

Are you planning on keeping it ifs? If not then I would save the money and use it for something else or keep it for the sas. If you keep the ifs, I would weld the back and put an aussie or another lunchbox locker in the front. Oh, to answer your second question, yes lockers will make a huge difference. You will probalby be able to crawl over most obstacles instead of having to hammer down.

yes i am keeping the ifs on this truck i have another one with soild front axle i just got this one done first. thanks for the info just a couple of more questions. will i break alot of parts with a locked rear end? and will it be ok to weld the spyder gears? if anyone has done this please let me know. this is my daily driver i do alot of off roading with it though i just want to know if driving it on the street will stress it to much and break the welds (i am having it welded by a certified welder). is the added traction with both locked worth the lose of streering radius? i appreciate all the help.

I wouldn't think welding it would immediatly cause any bad effects. Most of the carnage you see is because of people getting crazy with the skinny pedal when there in a bind.
