I have found someone wanting to sell two third members front and back with gears and lock rite lockers already installed. This truck is a daily driver will the lock rights hurt anything I was wanting ARB's but this might be a good deal. Also I am new to this. If I buy a complete third member is it just plug and play? Do I have to mess with setting it up and backlash and stuff or can I just install and be done with it?

Great , Go for it !!! you shouldn't have to adjust anything .......but you may depending on who installed the gears/lockers........as far as not hurting your daily driver .......they won't.........just get used to the pops and clanks of a locker and make sure you push in the clutch going around corners in 1st or 2nd on the street.......but I run a full time rear locker and other than the Clank, tang that happpens periodically .....it's all good ........plus you'll find you won't be engaging 4 by as soon as with open pumkin's......

Hey contoy they are not 4.88's but I hate to pass this up if we can get together on a price. The lockers were supposed to be professionally installed. Also what does clutching in lower gears do? Take the strain off of the drivetrain? If I don't clutch it what will happen?

At low speeds, sence the tires are locked together when you use the gas they spin at the same speed. This causes them to spin or hop depending on the situation. By pushing in the clutch you dont have power to the diff, so the locker disengages, and you coast around a corner without tire spin or hop because they can now spin at different speeds with the locker disengaged.

Well actually it was on ebay, but I think I still have his email address. He was wanting $1100. Which may or may not be about right. I know two ring and pinions and install kits are like $600 the lock rites I have no idea. If you are interested I will PM the address.

Well I ran it too 600 I was going to have to pay for shipping too. But like I said I am new too all this. I talked to shop in Nashville a week ago. They said $3K for new gears, ARB's and install. Is this about right or what? I have never had this done before. I think I am going to go in a different direction and get a bumper and a winch first. I will PM you the address. Oh by the way the guy I talked too about gears he recommended 4.88s. Does that sound familiar? ;D

no I didn't get them ...their all yours yota 88.I rethought it .........I'll go a different route , because all I need is one spare, not two......
3K for a gear change plus arb's ..........wow ....I wouldn't do that .......maybe spend $ 1000 for them for parts, set up ....only an arb in the front , and a quicklock in the rear
I always tell people to fly with 5:29's , because it's inevitable that you'll end up buying bigger tires , so get the lower gears , now and don't regret the 4:88's later...

Contoy I thought that was a little high myself, but like I said I am new at this game. Just trying to read, listen and learn before I dive in. Thanks for all the help guys.

if you just going run 31's as a hunting truck. drop in two aussie lockers yourself, cost less than $600.
