i got my 90 22re with 150+ mioes on it, i'm thinking of getting new gears, its a 4 banger, im thinkin 5.29 or 4.88 which would be better, i don't want to lose speed on the highway but i want to increase power off road.

The missing piece of info here is what tire size are you running. If you are running a 31 or smaller 4.88 is plenty, 33s or bigger i would go 5.29.
Or consider putting in a dual t-case set up or a lower gear set in the t-case. This way it wont effect your on road performance, but will give you the offroad control you are looking for.

Do you have a manual trans? 4.88 should do it 5.29 is to much for highway driving unless you plan on 35's or bigger
