I have a 98 taco w/ 2.7L manual, and 33x10.5R15. I want to regear my truck, I've never regeared a truck before so I need some advice. I am thinking about possibly putting 35x12.50R15's on in the future. What gear ratio would be good for my DD, that is occasionally used off-road.

For 35's, 5.29's. For 33's 4.88s.

Thanks for the advice, I have one more question. Do you need special tools to install gear or can they be install with common hand tools?

since you have the manual trans the 4:88's are perfect for 33's but still leaves you the option of going to 35's the 5:29's are for those with auto trans or strickly off road rigs that dont see the street

Thanks for the advice, I have one more question. Do you need special tools to install gear or can they be install with common hand tools? It takes a few specialized tools and a lot of experience to properly set-up a R & P. Not something for the beginner.
