I have bought a 86 and I am putting a straight axle under it. Anyways. I have some extra money and desided to spend it on either setting up F+R 5.29's, or installing All Pro Dual transfer kit. (I have 2-21 spline transfers layin around)
Now the ?? is which one do I need. I am running the factory 22re that is rebuilt and has decent power.(plan on beefin it up later) I am running some 33" BFG AT's for now till I get some cash to lift it more to fit some 36x12.50 TSLs. But wheeling with 36" is my future goal.
I dont do alot of rock climbing, just some pretty good hills, trails, and some thicker mud holes. Which would be better??

My question is this. Is the truck still a DD and/or will it be driven far to trails?
With duals, you'll be all set for most terrain. The only thing it won't compensate for is straight road gearing. That would be awesome with the 33's now on the truck. 36's, well, I'd regear the axles. At least for road driving anyway.
Maybe there is a happy medium somewhere. Maybe used 4:90's?
I'd run dual t-cases in a secong if it was an option for me. I love slow crawling.

How long will it be till you decide to SAS? And will it go on 36's right away? If you sas it and run larger tires off the bat i would def regear the beast first before you burn up a clutch or something! Doing the dual t-cases isnt that expensive and easy to do especially if you already have the t-cases there. Like i said personally it all depends on the order of which yo will be doing your mods. If it wont be a while till you SAS i would go dual cases first but if you are goin to SAS here soon i would regear then.

both, 5.29s will make it nice to drive while duals will make it nice to go slllow.

Since you're not going rockcrawling, dual cases wouldn't be of much use to you. Proper gearing for tire size would. Go with 5.29's, but not until you put on 36's. 33's with 5.29 gears sucks, and 33's and stock 4.10's will work with only a minor loss of power.

I am running 5.29's and 35's and my 4 low is still pretty low. I do a lot of extreme trails if I did more rock climbing I would add a set of 4.7's to my transfer case. But definetly regear either now or later.
