I am going to put 33"s on my 07' Tacoma TRD 6 speed.
I have read arguments for regearing and against.
Basically what I am wondering is with a 6 speed tranny, can you run with an even lower gear ratio at the axle because you have the 6th gear/overdrive to keep you fuel efficient on the highway?
Can you finally have the best of both worlds in one truck? i.e a crawling/torque gear and a daily driving gear ratio.

To get the 'best of both worlds' you want to regear using a ratio that compensates for the tire size, putting you back to stock, and put a crawler gear in the t-case to get the torque for offroading.

Man what a slippery slope moding your truck is :shootme: Ok, this is the evolution of my project so far. I wanted bigger than stock tires, so I knew I needed a lift of some sort. Found out that 33's and 3" lift (of either type) will still rub. So why not just get a little bigger lift? Say 4"? well, they don't make them, and for a good reason. if you use the spacer technique for a 4" lift it will put your CV at such a bad angle you're sure to muck something up. So the smallest kit after that is a 6" to "do it right". Ok, NP, do it right and only do it once But now the 33's look small and leave to much space, so go up to 35's to keep good looking porportions. Ok, it's a couple hundred more bucks, but we want to create the sex machine the first time. NP, accept now we are trying to push 35's with stock gear ratios ! So, in the vien of this thread, what are the stock differential ratios, and what should I change them to the get back to zero with my torque to the wheels?
