Hello All, I have a 87 truck bone stock with the 22RE and 4 speed auto tranny with the stock 225/75/15 tires. I plan on runing 32's in the future and according to my calculations 4.88's would be the ideal gear set for all around (trail, road, and highway) driving. I think the stock R&P is 4.30, and moving to 4.88's would give me about 1.33% increase in rpm over the stock combo. My question is what are your thoughts on this gear combo for all around driving (mostly street and highway)? Or what about 5.29s and the auto tranny 22RE combo? I would like to gain ever so slightly more power for light towing (two Quads). Would the 4.88s and the 32s and the 1.33% calculated increase in RPM be sufficient for towing on the street / highway? Or would 5.29's be better with 32s?
