Does anyone have any experience with 35" tires and stock 4:10 gears on a stock 22re? I have an 85 with 33" tires and it didnt seem to loose much power going from 31" to 33." 35" tires may be a different story. I was wondering how much power my truck will have and if it would be worth it with stock gears and a 4 cyl? Thanks

I think it might be alright if all you were doing was getting groceries. If you plan to offroad it at all then I think the money would be better spent on the gears with the 33's. Your crawl ratio is going to suck with 4.10's and 35's. I have 5.29's, a 22R(bored over, bigger valves, ported and polished head, header, etc...), and 35's. That 22RE isn't going to have much more nuts than mine. It will get where I want it to go, but on the road it is slow, off road it is going to eat up the clutch. I am converting to a Celica GTS 22RE and I am going to get lower gears for the transfercase. Crawling is a chore with my current setup.

That's because you did it in stages, had you gone from the stock 28" tires to the 33's, you'd know the big difference it actually is. It will be. But judge it yourself. Get the tires, then regear if you need to.

I'm running 4.88's with my 35" tires and it does fine in town, ok crawling, but any hit any hills at freeway speed and forget it. I would keep the smaller tires or pony up for gears. I wish I had 5.29's bad. You'll still be able to do the lower end of freeway speeds (65-70).
