i was just wanting to know if i could put a newer style limited slip rearend in the front of my 85 and if so how would it do in the snow

If it's a standard 8" diff, it should.
LSD's and lockers can lead to some squirrely handling in slippery conditions in the rear, much less the front. But if you're used to it it's not as bad.

Offroad im sure it would be fine. On the street it could be kind of scary.
