Heres one for the books:
bought 93 t-100 4x4, got it cheap. (nice looking truck, works great, low mileage. guess the guy got so mad with the clutch that he let it go cheap) Guy who sold it to me told me it had a clutch issue. (not enough clutch pedal) He put a new clutch (complete) in it, did not fix it. He also put a new master cylinder on it, did not fix it. Adjusted the little rod out all the way by the clutch pedal, did not fix it. You had to pump twice to get barely enough clutch. Going in to reverse was a chore: turn it off, shift into reverse, then crank it up.
Well, figured and figured, could come up with nothing. I replaced slave clyinder, nothing. Flushed line and burped it with suction gun, nothing. I drove it Saturday, and got so mad at it, I decided I was going to put it in another shop. (one shop could not figure it out).
I drove it Saturday, and got so mad, I got home and decided to stay till i figured it out. The last time I started it, I had to mash the clutch cancel switch on the dashboard... Hmmmmm,.... looked under the pedal, and the little arm that actuates the clutch safety switch to enable it to start was half an inch from the actual switch. I pulled the pedal assembly, and master cylinder, and found a hair line crack in the firewall, next to one of the connecting points for the clutch pedal. when you mash the clutch pedal down, the firewall would bow out a bit, since the plate from the pedal only connects on 3 points, each no larger than the diameter of a #2 pencil. I took a piece of metal, and reinforced the plate, so the pressure was spread out over the entire area, instead of just 3 small pressure points. Put it back together, and now have all the clutch pedal you would want. I am so fired up, I cant stand it.
Just wanted to share this with you guys. Hope you never have this problem.
It sucked when you were in the mud, and had to shift.
