I signed up to this board awhile ago, but since I dont go on the net alot, and wasnt really into message boards, I kind of forgot about it, but I just signed back up with the same name as before.
Anyway, I am in Owosso Michigan (between Flint and Lansing), I repair heavy equipment for a living, and build trucks when I'm not at work. I have a 1984 Toyota Pickup that is currently being re-built (again) with some serious modifications. Start out with a custom built frame that incorporates a full internal cage and a rear frame section that hydraulically articulates a total of 40 degrees, which the rear 4 link is mounted to. The front suspension will be basically long control arms. Powerwise, it will be using a Ford 4.0 out of a 92 Ranger (MPFI and DIS) mated to the stock Toy 5 speed, then the gear reduction section of a Toy transfer case, then a NP205 twin sticked (yea, 4 shifters may get a bit confusing)
Axles are Toy 8's (what else?) gusseted, with 5.29 gears, Detroit rear, welded front, and Chevy 6 lug rotors and calipers from a 91 1/2 ton on the rear, turning 38.5 boggers.
Other mods include a custom built dash made out of 3/16 plate that is structural and incorporates the air filter and all breathers, dual Optima yellow tops, bed mounted radiator, racing buckets with 4 point harnesses, cut half doors, and when I get to that point I will build some custom toolboxes that have flip down doors for work area and specific tool and part storage. Also I have a hydraulic drive motor that I plan on turning into a winch that will be reciever mounted for front or rear use.
Now, after reading all of that, do you understand the name "Mad Scientist"? ! ? ! ? !
