I'm quickly becoming more involved with off roading and learning more and more about it.

I'm just a wee young man looking to get into off roading. Vehicles have been my hobby for as long as I can remember. I've been off roading with my friend and his family, all of whom own j**ps, and that was great fun. I do have permit and will be getting my license this summer. Until then I'm always out working on my 1982 Toyota, 2wd, 4 speed, std. bed, pickup with a 2.4 liter 22r, I-4, with 258,875 miles. I'm not really sure if its worth dumping money into and either turning it into a pre-runner or eventualy spending $4000.00 for a 4 wheel drive kit. I'll probably just use it as an every day vehicle and with time, purchase a different Toyota of some kind. I'd apperciate suggestions of how I can get started into 4 wheeling.

Nice to meet you. Keep that truck and don't spend much on it. That's a Daily driver... back and forth to school. back and forth to work. will get you through alot(time...street use) forget about that truck and 4wd. big waste if time and money.... when the time is right...and the money's in your pocket.. you'll find a nice(or decent)used 4wd to start with. basically, if you can find the "parts" to make a 2wd-4wd, you have a 4wd that just needs a little tlc.... read the threads here.... you'll see real quickly what you do and don't need to get started. hope to see you out there...
