Hello all !!!! New dude here! Just wanted to drop a 'line' or 'lines' to say hi. Just purchased a 95' Taco Std. Cab 4x4 4cyl. 5spd. Its got 150K on it. With a front light bar( lights dont work yet), front coilovers, rear add-a-leafs, 15x8 AE's w/33x12.50 Pro Comp AT's x5( could not believe it had a matching spare either, cool!). The only thing I dont like so far are the shake, rattle & sqeaks that came with it (but we'll work on those). If anyone out there has any good advice about this year model please and I mean PLEASE do not hesitate to leave some killer feedback!! Been out of the Toyota loop for a while. This is my 3rd Toyota. 1st was a 83 SR5 same configuration. 2nd was an 89 same configuration. Not scared to get my hands dirty improving what I've got so give a brother a hand will ya. Thanx

Thanks for the welcome Hoodlum! I do have a question. How much and what brand of 4.88s? How easy/hard is the install? Got time, just not good place to do it. Any specialty tools involved? Also do the e-fans give you anymore horses + mileage? Thanx

Welcome aboard. Randy's www.ringpinion.com/ is the best place for gears. You'll need to call to find out their current price. They adverage around $350 for each full third member setup. I've never done the front IFS third, but I believe, like the rear or any other straight axle they're not hard to put in and a small driveway is enough to do the work in.
An e-fan will help both HP's and mileage cuz it will be less work for the motor to deal with. How much I'm not sure of, haven't got to that part of my Mod List yet.

The e-fan should be about 20hp gain and around 3-5 mpg(IMO the best mod I've done) and the throttle response is a great gain as well. The front dif is not easy I went to WHALEY ENTERPRISE in Dauphin PA near Harrisburgh . Brian is a comp driver in the neuroc series he helped me with mine for the reason neither of us ever did one for a IFS so it was a learning experience for both of us. It was a PITA because the front dif is what's called a clam shell you have to keep taking it apart and re assemble. If you remove the front third yourself and take it to someone it will be cheaper. DEADLY has provided the info for the gears Randy's is the only one I deal with. No he's not the cheapest but IMO the best for quality and service. If you do his break in process correctly he'll stand behind you %100 no Q's. Unless you have done or have someone around that has done this before I suggest paying to have them done. This is not a cheap change over so you would want it done right the first time. If you want to learn how to I suggest getting another rear third and a el cheapo gear set and give it a try.special tools are a dial indicator,BFH and hand tools (air tools if you have access to them).
