Hello I live in Longmont, CO.I own two 4runners one is a 1986 the other i just got yesterday it is a 1987. I don't have a owners manual what is the inclinometer and how do i know if its working??

Welcome aboard. Glad you found this site.
A inclinometer (or clinometer) is typically used to get a quick visual reference for leveling, balancing and preventing tip-over of vehicles. If it reads that you are level and you are actully laying on your side then you will know that something is diffenently not work right with it ;D
