i have an 88 v6 truck that has the most annoying squeak coming from the dashboard of the drivers side. it only appears at speeds over 5mph, and will occasionally go away or stop. makes the noise whether heater/ a/c is on or off or if the air is set to recirculate or fresh. last time i had it in the shop had mechanic look and he could figure it out. the noise cannot be heard from out the the truck. anyone else have this problem?

well i still haven't found what the squeak is, but after talking to a friend, that has a 79 formula firebird that has the same squeak he thinks it might be the speedo cable. one because of how the noise fluctuates and two because my speedometer needle does bounce a bit. my question is how i get to the cable to tighten it down, i have never had to do this and i don't know where to start.

Well if u wanna do that. Tighten it at the i think the rear side of the transfer case, and well in side the dash. To take the dash off all u need to do is take of 5 screws. They are very easy to remove none are hidden.
