If you plan on doing a lil bit of everything and your rig is mainly a street queen i would recommend ssr radial's. I have seen some rediculous mileage numbers on them tires and overall they arent too shabby.

The ssr's are definetly good tires. My brother in law had a set and they lasted a long time and it mostly only seen the street.

I've got ssr's and they are awesome! They ride really smooth without a whole lot of noise and they last a long time...

I ran a set of 37 tsl radials for 2yrs on my jeep, they had great tread, smooth on the road, some road noise, but made up for that thru the sand & the mud. I could get thru anything I needed and rarely needed the 4wd. Took a trip to Arkansas with them on the jeep and it was great on the highway out there & back. I highly recommend them for multipurpose use.

You said you had good luck with tsl radials? WOW! I have never heard or seen anything good about a TSL radial lasting on the street!

Seems like the wrong place for this thread but hey I'll chime in anyway... I have 35 1250 SSR's on my heap, my roomy has 33 1250 SSR's on his Rubicon, they can beat the crap out of BFG mudders offroad. The BFG is much better on the road, but who cares! The SSR's will take alot of abuse and scream for more, plus they look mean!! They work well in the mud but I am certain a bogger would make them look silly, but that same bogger probably isn't much fun on the road, or on steep side-hills.

Granted, they're not the best for a DD, but they do wear well. Mine are like 5 yrs old, and I'll get another year at least from them. It's a part time DD and gets driven 150 mi ea way on the highway to/from the trails. I can't complain a bit.

I believe TSL radials come in 36 1250 sizes where as SSR's do not. TSL radials were my first choice but would have taken too long to show up when I wanted to order them.

The LTB's are cheap tires. They are aggressive to. Dont know ho wthey will wear on the road. I think they are bias. BUt on a light weight toyota they should last a while. Ask around about them.

Cooper ST best tire hands down, also good price at like 140 a tire. not the STT.

i"ve got a set of firestone destination MT's and i'm pretty happy with them. Almost 50, 000km and the backs are still great, but my steering has started wobbling and now i need to rotate cuz the fronts are wearing quicky. This is my issue, not the tires. BTW probably over 90 % of my miles are on road. A little loud on the road, but frankly i like that hum.

You said you had good luck with tsl radials? WOW! I have never heard or seen anything good about a TSL radial lasting on the street! Thats funny cause i have never heard anything good about SSR's. In the early days of pirate i think this was the second most hated swamper next to thornbirds. If i remember correctly Chris Grieger(of All-Pro then Marlin now with TrailGear) had one blow out on him on the highway, something that rarely if ever happens with modern day radials. If you want radials get goodyears, BFGs or Mickey Thompsons. If you are worried more about your street mileage then why bother with Super Swampers at all. Super Swamper makes some of the best no compromise offroad and mud tires. But their attempts at compromise all purpose tire falls short of their competitors who have been concentrated on that market for decades. Usually people pick their swampers based on the terrain they run. Boggers for mud. Iroks for the rocks. TSL or SXs for all purpose offroad.

I can argue this.I've been running SSR's for 6 years now and I don't have one complaint about them. They haven't failed me on any terrain that I've planted them on.And not to mention how long they last milage wise.So far they have been the best all around tire I've used they are hands down better than the BFG's IMHO(god I hated those tires) You're right about Swamper making specific tires for specific terrain. The only place the SSR's are not what yould want them on is sharp rocks like slate or the like. The SSR's are a very soft compound. Just my .02

Just got 33 1250 SSR's for my 01 Taco cause I liked them so much on my 83. I drive them both on the street and while they are definitely noisier than BFG's, they will be the only tire I have until I go to Pit Bulls on the 83 next year. I have seen great things from the 35's I run on the 83, situations where you would expect them to puncture(rocks pushing the sidewalls in several inches) and they keep on truckin. Plenty of people I ride with have MTR's, BFG's, and all the different types of Swampers. As long as they had decent Mud Terrains, no one has gotten stuck or couldn't get up a trail, or had a puncture that you could blame solely on the tire. My vote is get want you want, it will probably work fine and chances are, it's better than what you have.

How do BFG M/T mk1s do on the road, as far as wear goes v.s. a SSR? I dont care about noise

Im not sure but I would go with the KM2's. The have low road noise, are a reasonably high mileage tire, will wrap around anything when aired down a little, 3 ply side walls. The best tire in my opinion, expessially for the money!
