I'm swapping frames on my 87 extra cab cause it rotted out on me, but before I go install the new one Im installing Allpro's solid axle swap kit. I've got every thing figured out but I don't know if I can use my stock steering box with the high steer set up. If anyone could help me out that would be great. thanks

I am fairly sure your steering box is exactly what you need for the cross-over steering. Trail gear and I think All Pro sell rebuilt boxes your year model or the newer ones. Both work. Only rack and pinion steering or pre-IFS steering doesn't work. I think mine might have come out of a 87. If you want to move your solid axle farther forward(great for bigger tires and more articulation), you might have to move it forward on the frame. Mine is setup as far forward as it can go before having to chop off the body mount. I even cut into the body mount a little. I am not certain of the frame differences between my 83 and yours, but I bet it is very similiar.

The stock IFS box is exactly what you use for x-over steering.
