HERE IS THE PROBLEM, I GOT AN 86 4 RUNNER WITH A BAD MOTOR, I TOOK IT OUT AN PUT A MOTOR I HAD OUT OF AN 83. THE WIRING WOULDN'T MATCH UP SO I WIRED IT THE WAY I THOUGHT BUT I AIN'T GETTING ANY SPARK. THE QUESTION I HAVE IS THERE A WAY OF WIRING IT WITHOUT THE ECM BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ONE?

You're replacing a 22RE with a 22R ?
Both have ECMs.
You need to get the wiring diagrams for both and do a bit of splicing to make it work. It's not simple but can be done.

Are you sure the 83 22Rs had ECMs? I didn't think there was one on my 82 but then again 83 is a year newer.

I fond the problem! It was the Igniter, the part attached to the coil. The one I had out of the 86 worked with the 83 motor thank god because that Igniter is $400. In the 83s there is no computer however there is a module for the emission control system but you don't need to hook it up. Thanks to all
