Im thinking about buying a 81 toyota pick up with a lift, 4 speed tranny, 85 22r, 411 gears, and new 35" tsl's for 1500. Has a little bit of body damage, starts first try, but the tranny is a little questionable. clutch goes straight to the floor board but i took a look at the slave cylinder and theres a tear in the boot and no fluid in the master cylinder. So i went out and bought a new slave cylinder and im going to install it there before i buy it from the guy. The motor doesnt knock at all but theres a water leak coming from a line or something right underneath the intake, dont know what or where its coming from. the trucks just going to be my hunting truck, but just wanted to ask you guys what you think about it and give me some pointers on what i should look for since im new to the yota world. thanks a ton,
Justin

Rust, Rust, Rust. Get under there and poke around the frame. This is most important. Tap it with a hammer and listen. It should be solid. Be sure to get to the spots where there are joints - those tend to be the most weak. Get back in the hard to reach areas where rust may not be so obvious. You should be able to fix most other issues, but major frame rot will be a showstopper.
