Hello other Toyota junkies!
Not much to tell on my end, I have been into Toyotas for about 15 years and don't feel I am done with them yet. I have built a bunch and learned a lot. I likem lifted to the sky, made for rock crawling or *GASP* lowered on air bag suspensions to drag frame (that is a 4x2 only thing though)
I own currently a 1988 4Runner that I lifting to the moon again. It orginally ran 39" Super Swampers with a 3" body lift and 10" suspension but, as I got tired or the rattles and shakes I decided to rebuild it my way. Trying not being influenced by trends or what the magazines are showing as a show truck or rock crawler cookie cutter set up. Now the Toy is back on it's orginal frame (had a 1984 pick-up frame under it before) and converted to live axle. I ditched the body lift and increased the suspension to 12+" of lift. (I got so sick of my shifters not fitting right with the boots and the squeaks of the body with the top off) I currently run the 3.0 V6 and contemplating building a 4 link rear suspension for it. I plan to run at least 39" tires again.
Now is this a rig that I would tell anyone else to build. No, everyone likes what they like and while that combination makes a terrible rock crawler it does make a great looking Toy that can mud and snow if I choose. I will learn in the future if this set up good for me and if it isn't I can just change it. No need to bash or trash others for what they think is a good set up.
My mind is open to all custom trucks and I own a 4x2 Toyota that is on air bags that drags frame so I don't think one style is better than somone else's I have learned to appreciate it all. I have found any open mind is hard to find lately when it comes to custom anything.
Looking forward to chatting and sharing pictures with everyone.
