A BUDDY OF MINE USED TO HAVE 86 REGULAR CAB 4BY WITH A REMOVABLE HARD TOP. IT WAS A KIT THAT ALLOWED THE USE OF THE ORIGINAL ROOF. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO MAKES OR SELLS THE KIT? ALSO I AM WONDERING IF THERE IS A KIT FOR 79 - 83 YOTAS. THANKS FOR ANY HELP. MACK P.S. I HAVE TRIED LOOKING ON THE STREET TRUCK WEB SITES, WITH NO LUCK

There used to be a kit for replacing the hard top w/a soft top, but it didn't make the hard top replaceable, IIRC.
But that was 20 some years ago.

WELL I FINALLY FOUND A COMPANY THAT SELLS KITS FOR REMOVABLE HARD TOPS AND CONVERTIBLE TOPS. 700 BUCKS FOR THE CONVERTIBLE (OUCH) HOPEFULLY I WILL BE ABLE TO PICK UP MY NEW (83) TRUCK IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. SHE HAS BEEN SITTING IN A FIELD FOR 4 YEARS.(NO LOVE) IT WILL BE MY 7TH, NOT COUNTING MY SONS 83 AND MY 05 TACOMA. LOVE THE 05 4 DOOR 4X4, BUT IT JUST AIN'T AS MUCH FUN AS THE OLD STRAIGHT AXLE MODELS.
THE PLANS ARE TO BUILD A GOOD TRAIL TRUCK THAT I CAN HAUL MY FOUR WHEELER ON AND STILL BE ABLE TO WHEEL THE TRUCK. THE CAB AND FRAME ARE IN GREAT SHAPE. THE BED IS SHOT, BUT I WANT A FLATBED ANYWAY. I CAN'T WAIT TO START THE REBUILD. PLANS ARE 4.88 GEARS, LOCKERS, WINCH, SLIDERS, CAGE, FLAT BED AND 10 X 33 OR 9.50 X 34 TIRES. NOT SURE WHICH ONES YET.

TRUCKIN SUSPENSION.COM $399.00 FOR THE REMOVABLE HARDTOP, $699.00 FOR THE SOFT TOP. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE RAG TOP. BUT I WOULD RATHER SPEND THE COIN ON TIRES!! MY FATHER USED TO DO UPOLSTERY, SO I'M GONNA MAKE A TARGA TOP (SORT OF A FULL SOFT SUN ROOF).

I WISH I COULD SEE ONE UP CLOSE. I WOULD HATE TO DISH OUT 700 BUCKS AND THE THEN THE TOP LOOK LIKE CRAP. ANYONE HAVE SOME GOOD PICS OF ONE? I THINK I'M GONNA MAKE A CANVAS TOP LIKE THE OLD VW BUGS.

WHOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO FINALLY GOT THE TRUCK HOME. IT HAD BEEN SITTING IN A FIELD FOR 4-5 YEARS. SHE STARTED ON THE THIRD TRY AND DROVE OUT. STARTED STRIPPING IT DOWN, NOT IN BAD SHAPE FOR A "83" AS SOON AS I CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST PICS, I'LL DO IT.

, , , , , finished the bed, the bed came off a golf course tractor and the fenders are from STURDYBILT trailers. the taillights were 24volt military issue, I converted the to 12 volt and rewired them, I wanted something different I think they're cool. opinions??

That bed looks nice! Plus it looks at least as useful as a factory bed, but sturdier, I like! The lights are nice and retro, .but I would probably knock them off the first time I hit a decent trail. Your making great progress on this truck, keep the updates rolling.
