Hey all, the second day with my 86 pickup with a 22r, something about my carb got messed up. It no longer Idles. As soon as i let off the gas, in gear or not, the engine dies. I can start it fine after that, but of course it dies without my foot on the gas.
Any ideas?
thanks

Had the same problem last month.
Check the fuel-cut solenoid, located left rear at the top.
Disconnect the large green connector for the carb, and feed 12V to the solenoid wires (white = neg, blk = pos) and listen for a click. If no click it's bad.
If you hear it click go to the harness side of the green connector, and using a DMM look for 12V across the same pins, with the ign key in the RUN/ON position.
My problem was the second one, the emissions computer was not supplying a ground (neg) that energizes the solenoid.

ahh, thanks for the info, but it turns out it was a bad fuel filter filling the carb with crap. Apparently the tank was full of shit at some point

No problem, that was one of the things I checked into when I was troubleshooting mine.
