I have an 82 Toyota Pickup and the guy I got it from had swapped the rear axle for an 86 for a wider wheel base. But the rear drive shaft didn't match up right, so the drive shaft dropped out and F*CKED a lot of stuff up. So I'm looking for suggestions. Cheers!

I don't know what other issues you have but you will need to swap the flange(s) for the one that matches your driveshaft.I had to do this when I did the same swap.

So if I get an 82 flange to match the 82 drive shaft, it will match the 86 axle? Because a friend of mine said that when you do a swap like that and lift it over 3", then you should get a longer drive shaft. Would it be better to just get an after market drive shaft made to fit?

It depends on how much lift.I have 3" of lift and no driveshaft work had to be done and could probably get away with 1 or 2 more inches before I'd have to lenghten the drive shafts. You will still need the correct flange reguardless. When they lenghten the driveshaft they re-use the same ends. All they really do is remake the main section of the shaft.Normally they don't change anything on the slip yoke side.Which is the side that mounts to the rear pinion flange.

It's got a total of 6" of life. The shaft reached fine, it was just the flange that was the problem.

Ok, so I've been looking for a flange for a while, but I can't seem to find one. Other then local junk yards, is there any web sites where I can find a flange?

I'd look for it at a junkyard.Or buy a the third member from someone parting out. This way you have a spare third in case something goes wrong at some point.
