hey guys just wondering if an 84 wiering harness will work on an 81?

The entire harness?
It won't be a direct PnP, as Toyota changes connector styles gen to gen, and one might have sensors another doesn't. But on the plus side they're both carbed, so they should be close enough you could make it work, but it would take some work.

yeah the entire harness, i looked at mine and i looked at the 84 and there pritty close, all the conecters on the engine will hook up to mine, but i donty know about the inside of the cab, im hopping there close.

So you have both and can compare, that helps.
Look at the gauge cluster connectors and the steering column connectors (under the plastic cover) to see if they match.
